Florida Dentist Faces Child Abuse Claims
Thomas Floyd long had a reputation as being a leader in getting dental care to poor children in the community. Now, a number of ex-employees reveal they heard screams of pain from the children undergoing dental treatment.
After he was arrested in September 2012 for child neglect, other more shocking details emerged about allegations of verbal and physical abuse by the dentist from as early as 2001.
A father alleged he took his five-year-old daughter to Thomas Floyd’s practice in West Palm beach and during treatment the dentist extracted three healthy teeth from his daughter’s mouth. It is thought he could have confused patients when this occurred. The five year old only went to see the dentist to get her teeth cleaned.
Eight former employees at the dental clinic allege that they saw Floyd hit and pinch children and call them names such as “brat’ or “crybaby”. He is now serving five years probation and is not allowed to practice dentistry anywhere in the US.
