Fireman Forced To Fork Out £2500 In Dental Bills After Being Punched In The Face

A fireman has been forced to pay out £2500 for dental treatment after he suffered a broken tooth and bruising following an early morning attack in May.

Peter Olcyzk was on his way home when he noticed a temporary sign in the High Street in Beauly on the A62; he got out of his car to remove the sign and was greeted by 18 year old Liam Ironside. Ironside asked Mr Olcyzk why he was moving the sign and challenged him to a fight; when the fireman refused, Ironside punched him in the face, breaking his upper left incisor and bruising his cheeks and lips.

After seeing doctors at Raigmore Hospital, My Olcyzk was advised to take 2 weeks off work; he has since spent £2500 on dental treatment.

Ironside, from Orchard Park, Beauly, admitted assaulting Mr Olcyzk; in his defence, Ms Alison Foggo said that her client was immature and had too much to drink. She also said that Mr Ironside had acted in retaliation after Mr Olcyzk “put him to the floor” prior to the youngster lashing out.

Ironside has been ordered to complete 240 hours of community service; he has also been placed under supervision order for 18 months. Sheriff Neilson, speaking in court, said that Ironside has pleaded guilty to a “serious assault” but he felt that the issue could be dealt with by means of community service, rather than a custodial sentence.
