Sample News Big

Firefighters were called to the scene of a blaze at a former dental practice in Port Glasgow on Monday morning. Two fire crews attended the incident on Brown Street.

The building, which was previously occupied by Belhaven Surgery, was ablaze, but firefighters managed to dampen the flames and nobody was harmed. There was minor traffic disruption, as both Brown Street and William Street were closed off while the crews dealt with the fire and police diverted traffic. Brown Street was closed for a number of hours.

The building is due to be demolished following the relocation of the practice to premises in Scarlow Street.

The call came in before 6am on Monday morning and crews quickly gained control of the situation. Although the surgery is located adjacent to the train line, no trains were affected and services ran as normal throughout the day.

At the moment, it is not known how the fire started and crews are investigating.
