The Federal Government has responded to comments made by a dentist from Narrandera; the Government confirmed that plans to include a new dental service in the area will still go ahead, after local dentist Iain Douglas criticised ministers for scrapping plans to include a new service in a multimillion dollar health clinic.

Just a few days ago, locals were under the impression that the dental service would be scrapped due to a shortage of funding; it was believed that funding has been approved before plans to include dental services were proposed. As a result of this, Narrandera dentist, Dr Iain Douglas criticised the Federal Government, questioning why they had torn down an existing dental clinic without any plans to incorporate dental services in the new Narrandera health clinic.

In response to Dr Douglas’ comments, acting Health Minister, Mark Butler, said that dental services are currently being provided at an alternative site and the plans to include new dental services in stage two of the development of the clinic will go ahead.
