February is National Pet Dental Health Month

Sample News Big

February is National Pet Dental Health Month and veterinary practices across America are hosting events to raise awareness of pet dental health and encourage owners to bring their pet in for a dental examination.

Many pet owners do not think about their pet’s oral health and often, oral health problems go unnoticed until the animal is in pain. Experts advise owners to keep an eye on their pet’s oral health and take steps to look after the animal’s teeth and gums.

Oral health problems are very common amongst pets and if they are left untreated, they can develop into very serious health problems. Bacteria associated with gum disease and oral health conditions can enter the bloodstream and contribute to kidney, liver, heart and lung problems.

PenBay Vets is just one of many practices in the USA celebrating the campaign. The practice is offering free pre-anaesthetic screening, which is worth $45 for all pets who have their teeth cleaned during February and March.
