Families First clinic receives $20,000 grant

Tom’s of Maine, a dental health provider, recently launched a competition to allow dental clinics and practices to apply for a grant of $20,000. Competitors were required to upload a video onto the company website and local people were then invited to vote for which organisations they wanted to support.

The competition closed on March 13th and the winners have recently been announced. The Families First Health and Support Center was named as one of the five lucky winners and will now receive a valuable twenty thousand dollar grant.

Staff at the Families First clinic were delighted with the news and have subsequently set about making plans to spend the money. The grant will primarily be used to support a mobile dental unit, which will travel around the community providing services for those that struggle to access local services. Money will also be spent on providing more patients with reduced rate care following treatment carried out by the mobile unit; often follow-up care is not budgeted for by patients and it can contribute to significant costs.

The grants offered by Tom’s of Maine as part of the Tom’s of Maine Dental Health for All programme will undoubtedly benefit hundreds of people and will also help to bring communities closer together.
