Falmouth Dental Practice Eases Patient Concerns

Sample News Big

A Falmouth dental practice has set the record straight, after patients raised concerns that they had been removed form the register as a result of one of the dentists taking long-term sick leave.

Falmouth Dental Health Centre has apologised to patients, after the confusion regarding the practice list. Some patients were incorrectly told that services at the practice were unavailable to them, leaving many looking for a new dentist. One patient told a local newspaper that he was worried that many people may not even be aware that they had been removed from the list.

However, members of the staff at the practice have set the record straight, confirming that no patients on the list had been removed and a letter had wrongly been sent out to some patients. The practice was aiming to convey the message that it would be unable to accept new patients but current patients would not be affected.

Sarah Newton, MP, was contacted by a number of concerned patients and has promised to look into the situation.

One patient said that he was told that his appointment was cancelled and when he tried to re-book it, was told that he was no longer on the practice list. Many of the patients were worried and some are still unaware of whether they are on the list or not. The practice has now reassured patients that nobody has been removed from the list and assured them that they are welcome to contact the practice to make appointments as usual.

I was told that I should contact nhs emergency dental service to see a dentist (due to long term illness in this practice) and my appointments were cancelled by phone. No-one has contacted me to correct this position.
