A dentist from Exeter is celebrating a major milestone, after reaching his 30th anniversary; Nick Dee has worked at Dee Shapland Dental Surgery for 30 years.

Mr Dee is the principal dentist and has seen several landmark occasions come and go; now, he celebrates 30 years at the practice in a year, which has also seen members of staff celebrate their 40th, 50th, 60th and 70th birthdays.

The practice, which is based on Topsham Road, has been in the family for three generations. Nick follows in the footsteps of his father and grandfather and dental nurse, Lynda Peckham, has worked for all three principal dentists; she recently celebrated her 50th birthday, along with receptionist, Chrissie Jones and dental nurse, Sharon Harris, who turned 40 recently.

Dental nurse, Chris Maddocks celebrated her 60th birthday and retired receptionist, Judie Frazer-Axten, turned 70 at the end of last year.

The team hosted a party to celebrate all the special occasions and Mr Dee said that it had been a momentous year, with plenty to smile about. He said he was “delighted” to celebrate his 30 year anniversary and the many landmarks reached by the dental team.

The practice will be hosting a free mouth cancer screening day on November 28th, which will be open to all; the initiative is part of Mouth Cancer Action Month, which is running throughout the month of November.
