Employers Allowing More Time Off For Dental Appointments

Employers are allowing employees more time off for dental appointments, according to a recent survey, which was carried out by Simplyhealth.

The Simplyhealth survey revealed that employers are becoming more flexible when it comes to allowing employees time off to attend dental appointments. In 2012, 9 per cent of people said that they were unable to go to the dentist because they could not get time off, but this fell to just 4 per cent in 2013.

James Glover, a spokesman for Simplyhealth, said that it was good news that employers are being more lenient and allowing employees to arrange dental appointments.

Mr Glover added that it is beneficial for employers to allow members of staff time off for dental appointments in the long-run, as routine check-ups are likely to reduce the risk of serious oral health problems, which may need complex treatment and result in employees taking more time off.

Dentists recommend six monthly check-ups to prevent gum disease and tooth decay.
