Emergency Dental Service on the Move in Rotherham

Sample News Big

Patients in Rotherham have been advised to note down a new telephone number, in preparation for the transfer of the emergency dental service from NHS Rotherham to the Dental Access Centre. The service will move next week.

The emergency service is designed for patients who are not currently registered with an NHS dentist, patients who cannot get an appointment with their dentist and those who have suffered trauma and require urgent dental care. The new number will be 0845 155 0845.

Patients that call the number will be provided with a dental appointment at a surgery or clinic in Rotherham or the Dental Access Centre in either Mexborough or Doncaster.

The emergency service will operate Monday to Friday from 9am until 9.30pm and between 12.30pm and 5pm on weekends and bank holidays.

Patient Advice Liaison Manager at NHS Rotherham, Helen Wyatt, said that the trust has decided to move emergency care to provide patients with a better service. At the Dental Access Centre, patients can be assessed by trained staff before the appropriate course of action is taken, which will save patients and staff time and ensure that the most urgent cases are prioritised.

More information about the emergency dental service and all other dental services in Rotherham and the surrounding area, is available on NHS Rotherham’s website.
