Emergency Dental Clinic to Close in Tunbridge Wells

Sample News Big

NHS bosses have confirmed that an emergency dental clinic in Tunbridge Wells will close today.

The DentaLine service, which is located on Lansdowne Road, will close to make travelling distances more manageable for people living in Maidstone. Once the clinic has closed the nearest emergency dental service for Tunbridge Wells’s residents will be in Aylesford.

Annie Godden, head of general dental services at NHS Kent and Medway, said that the clinic will close to make the service more accessible to people living in other parts of the county. A new clinic, which will be more centrally located in the region, will open in Larkfield. Staff from the Lansdowne Road clinic have been consulted about the closure and will transfer to the Larkfield premises. The DentaLine helpline will still operate.

However, many locals have not welcomed news of the move. Patient, Harald Haraldsen said that the Larkfield clinic was not convenient and described it as “tucked away in the back of beyond,” while a town centre practice manager said that dentists had not been consulted about the move and said that it would be difficult for people who did not drive to get to Larkfield late at night when the clinic will be in operation.
