Scottish Health Boards are successfully meeting targets for time after hours, emergency dentist care, according to a recent report.

NHS Quality Improvement Scotland (NHS QIS) carried out the research and came to the conclusion that every Scottish Health Board had the necessary methods in position to care for individuals with emergency dental problems. NHS Fife was particularly successful and was praised for offering patients an “optimised service”.

Director of patient wellbeing and performance appraisal at NHS QIS, Jan Warner, said that it was evident that Health Boards right across Scotland had made exceptional efforts and were offering patients high standards of out of hours dental care.

The results of the report were welcomed by Health Minister, Shona Robinson; she said it was “excellent news” and is delighted at the progress being made in dental provision throughout Scotland.
