Electric shocks to end tooth-grinding

Sample News Big

Scientists claim that they can cure teeth-grinding by administering an electric shock to a person’s temples.

Danish researchers said that the shock, which is delivered by an iPod-sized device, can reduce tooth-grinding or bruxism by 50% within the first three week of treatment and by 80% after eight weeks.

Bruxism affects one in four adults and is the most common sleep disorder.

Cosmetic Dentistry Guide recently reported that tooth-grinding had increased among people in extremely stressful professions as a result of the recession.

The force put upon teeth while grinding teeth can been 20 times stronger than the force of normal chewing.

This means that bruxism, which is related to anxiety, can damage teeth, corrode enamel, cause gums to receded and cause migraines.

If you think you maybe suffering from bruxism visit your dentist as soon as possible for advice and treatment.
