Eatery makes diners sign tooth-damage waiver

A London-based restaurant is asking its customers to sign a waiver before they eat their Christmas pudding.

Lawyers who are customers of the High Timber restaurant, which is located in the city’s financial district, advised its owners to protect themselves legally when they found out that the Christmas puddings would have silver charms hidden inside them.

The charms have the potential to chip and break teeth if bitten into by an unsuspecting diner and could cause considerable health problems if swallowed.

Neleen Strauss, High Timber co-owner, said many of her customers couldn’t believe that they had to sign a waiver but claimed that she had taken the lawyers’ advise to cover herself legally.

Many people hide coins or charms in their Christmas puddings as finding them symbolises future prosperity in the new year.
