Durham Children take a Trip to the Dentist

Children from St Bede’s primary School in Chester-le-Street took a trip to the dentist last week.

A group of a dozen pupils visited the Sacriston Dental Health Centre last week to have a look around the surgery and learn about oral hygiene. The group of year 3 and 4 students were shown around the dental centre and the team of staff took time to talk to them about how to protect their teeth and gums from oral health diseases.

Dentist Kirstin Farquhar, said that it was important for children to get used to the sights and sounds of the dentist’s surgery and this is why dentists are eager to encourage children to take their children for check-ups from a very early age.

Dr Farquhar said that inviting children to the surgery allows them to get used to going to the dentist’s and helps them to understand that a trip to the dentist is nothing to worry about.
