Chelsea manager, Andrea Villas-Boas, has revealed that Didier Drogba has been given time off to recover from concussion and have dental treatment, following a collision with Norwich goalkeeper, John Ruddy.

During the match at Stamford Bridge last month, Drogba was accidentally punched by Ruddy when the pair both contested the same high ball. The Ivory Coast striker was knocked unconscious and taken to nearby St Mary’s hospital for a brain scan and was discharged later that evening.

Drogba suffered concussion and dental damage when he fell to the ground after the collision. The knock cause damage to some of his teeth and Villas-Boas has now given him time off to have treatment. The Portuguese manager said that he was hoping that Drogba would be fit to play in the crunch match against champions Manchester United this weekend, but admitted that it would be touch and go and the striker may miss out, paving the way for the return of Fernando Torres.
