Doncaster Health Bosses reveal Plans to Relocate Four Dentists

Health bosses in Doncaster have revealed plans to relocate four of the five dentists currently working at the Mexborough dental access centre.

Last week, plans were revealed to open a new clinic in the town centre and bosses have now confirmed that one dentist and three dental students will move from the current location and out of hours care will be shifted to the new centre, which means that patients who require dental treatment after 6pm will have to travel to Doncaster.

The new Flying Scotsman dental centre will open in January 2012 and NHS bosses have stated that the new centre will improve access to dental services for local people, despite criticism from local councillors and residents.

A spokesman from NHS Doncaster said that dentists will see the same number of patients but they will be split between two locations, which will make it easier for more patients to get dental treatment. Patients will have a choice between the two centres from the beginning of next year.

Health bosses have also confirmed that the dental centre at the Montagu Hospital will also close and the current surgery will be used as a pain management centre.
