Doncaster Dentists Urge Patients to Keep Up to Date with Check-Ups

A dental team in Doncaster is urging patients to keep up to date with routine check-ups following a significant increase in the number of patients who have not seen a dentist for several years. Figures show that there has been a sharp increase in the number of people who have not visited their dentist for at least five years, despite advice from dentists recommending routine appointments every 6-12 months.

Mydentist practice manager Jane Gety said it is clear to see the benefits of visiting the dentist regularly and the impact of avoiding the dentist. Research conducted by the British Dental Health Foundation show that patients who go to their dentist on a regular basis have a 60% lower risk of dental decay than those who rarely see their dentist.

As the latest statistics suggest that almost a third of adults have dental decay and tooth pain, Ms Gety is urging patients in the Doncaster area to get in touch and book a check-up. Many people are anxious about seeing the dentist, especially after a long time, but the team is trained in caring for nervous patients and the modern surgery is designed to be comfortable and relaxing. If patients are nervous, they are advised to get in touch so that they can meet the dental team and have a look around before they go in for their dental check.
