The owners of a dental practice in Cradley Heath have submitted plans to convert a historic local building into a new surgery.

The Bhandals already operate a surgery located next door to the Louvre building on High Street. The aim is to convert the premises to allow for expansion of the existing practice.

Dr Baljit Bhandal has submitted a proposal for the project to Sandwell Council. Dr Bhandal already owns the property and is seeking permission to change the use of the premises to create a larger, more modern dental practice.

If the plans are approved, the historic building, which was built by Enoch Gould and opened as a department store in 1905, will become a state of the art dental practice.

The building has also previously been used by Sandwell Council. The proposals outline plans to join the existing dental surgery to the Louvre building via a new single-storey link.

The statement accompanying the plans highlights the history of the practice. Bhandal Dental Surgery has been a focal point of the street for over 30 years.

The plans relate to expanding the surgery by utilising the space available within the neighbouring property, the Louvre, which is already owned by the Bhandals.

There will be no alterations to the façade of the distinctive building and there will be around 30 parking spaces located at the rear of the practice.
