Dentists Submit Planning Application to Convert Former Bolton Veteran’s Club into Brand New Practice

The owners of Ravat and Ray Dental Care have submitted an application to turn a former veteran’s club in Bolton into a brand new dental practice.

The dentists, who have premises in Wigan Road, are hoping to turn the disused building on Brackley Street in Farnworth into a sizeable new practice, which would house 12 surgeries on the ground floor. The practice, which would provide both private and NHS dental care, would have the capacity to treat between 300 and 400 people per day.

The application, which was drawn up by Martin Weaver, suggests that converting the former Farnworth and District Veterans Club into a dental surgery would offer a valuable service to local people and vastly improve the aesthetic of the building, which is currently in a “dilapidated” state.

The plans contain proposals for surgeries, a reception area and a waiting room on the ground floor and staff and administration facilities on the first floor. The renovation work would transform the external appearance of the building, making it much more appealing to passers-by and local residents.

The plans have received initial support from Councillor Asif Ibrahim, who believes that an accessible dental practice offering NHS services would be a valuable addition to the area. Standards of oral health are poor in Farnworth and the new surgery could help to improve oral health in the local area.

The veterans club was closed down last year after 100 years in business.
