Dentists launch new emergency care product

Sample News Big

Two dentists from Leeds have launched a new product to help dentists deal with medical emergencies in the very rare event that an emergency occurs in the treatment room.

Julie Burke and Kate Taylor, both dentists, academics and oral surgeons from the Leeds Dental Institute, have designed and developed the ResusPod, a product which provides equipment, training and medicines in the event of an emergency. New regulations introduced by the Care Quality Commission state that dentists must have the necessary knowledge to deal with a medical emergency.

The product has been developed in association with Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and the University of Leeds.

Kate Taylor said that the product has been developed to ensure that all staff are able to cope with a medical emergency. The ResusPod caters for all the requirements of the CQC and will be sold to dental schools and dental practices.
