Dentists In Hampshire To Help The Slums Of Africa

A dentist from Hampshire who specialises in dental surgery will be traveling all the way to Kenya in order to train a doctor out there. The training will be basic dentistry for the doctor in Kenya to learn an use in East Africa.

Dr Peter Saund will be in Kenya in an slum area called Kibera for 10 days; the slum is just outside of  Nairobi. Whilst there, he will be offering free treatment to locals in the area.

His trip has been arranged by the charity organisation Wings of Mercy and he has said that he wants to contribute help there as the living conditions and lack of medical care is very bad.

Dr Saund will be flying over to Kenya in October as part of a team of doctors and nurses, a midwife and support workers who are all volunteering their time and skills to help the residents of the slum area.

He is hoping to raise over a thousand pounds before flying out there so that he can buy medical equipment. He will be looking after over 30,000 patients over the ten days he is there.
