Dentists host Thanksgiving free treatment drive
A Tampa Bay dental practice is giving away free treatment for thanks giving.
Prestige Dentistry spent Wednesday 25 November 2009 treating almost 100 people as a gesture of good will.
Jim Rungo, a patient who was treated by the Prestige team, said that many people find it very difficult to get dental care because they can’t afford insurance.
Dr David Pielak added that there are no government programs which help these patients and said that there were very few clinics that can provide help in and around Tampa Bay.
Seven dentists spent the entire day working for free with a large team of staff in an attempt to treat as many people as possible.
Dr Pielack, who was delighted at the public’s response to Prestige Dentistry’s first free clinic, said that something needed to be done for these patients as poor oral health can affect a person’s overall wellbeing.
He added that the Prestige team relished the opportunity to serve the community, as it was a joy to give others a happy Thanksgiving.
