Dentists Eager to Promote Oral Hygiene in Saudi Arabia

Sample News Big

Dentists in Saudi Arabia believe that the majority of people do not practice good oral hygiene and are eager to promote oral care to try and reduce the prevalence of oral health diseases.

Dentists made the observation during a workshop hosted by Johnson & Johnson Middle East in Dubai, with the aim of the workshop to identify problems faced by dentists in their day to day work. Many of the dentists claimed that the prevention of oral health problems was not a priority for most people and as a result, the rates of decay and gum disease are high.

Dentists also highlighted the need for further research into oral care, initiatives to raise public awareness of oral health matters and improved oral health education.

According to a study conducted by Phystone Research in 2007, around 45 percent of the population aged between 18 and 59 suffered from bleeding gums, a major symptom of gum disease.

The Saudi Arabia Dentist’s Workshop was held shortly after the launch of Listerine Zero, a new alcohol-free mouthwash produced by Johnson & Johnson.
