A glamorous Bollywood ball organised by dentist, Jas Gill, raised thousands of pounds for charity last month.

On September 18th, hundreds of party-goers descended on London’s Hilton Paddington to celebrate everything Bollywood for a good cause. The Bollywood Dentist Ball was launched by Jas Gill and came about after the popular dentist set up a Facebook group during lockdown.

Jas wanted to create a platform where dental professionals could share clips and images of Bollywood dancing and singing and meet people with similar interests and passions. The group grew rapidly, and Jas decided to organise the ball as a means of bringing members together to raise money.

Proceeds of the event, which totalled more than £2,000, were donated to Wells on Wheels, a charity, which was established by Shez Memon. The charity provides access to water wheels to ease the physical and mental burden for women who would ordinarily have to walk miles to find clean water, carrying heavy buckets on their shoulders or heads.

On the night, guests enjoyed a sumptuous banquet consisting of classic Indian dishes, access to a bar with a wide range of drinks available and live performances from Bollywood and Bhangra dancers and the Panjabi Hit Squad.

The ball was such a success that there are already plans in motion to host a Valentine’s event next year. The Facebook group Jas set up during the first lockdown also continues to grow and now has more than 1,200 members from across the UK.
