The director of a Leeds dental clinic will be appearing as a celebrity dentist on Big Slim: The Chawner Challenge.

Dr Dominic O’Hooley is to be featured on Lorraine Kelly’s new mini-series, which follows reality show reject Emma Chawner and the rest of her family as they try to change their lives.

Chawner first appeared on X Factor 2007, she performed My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion. She was rejected for her voice and her appearance.

Undeterred she returned n 2009 with her sister Samantha but was shunned again.

The Chawner family have gained negative publicity for some other reasons. The family’s combined weight is 83 stones, and The Daily Mail accused the unemployed Chawners of claiming benefits worth £22,500.

Big Slim: The Chawner Challenge tracks the family over five months as they receive a huge life makeover. They will receive a fitness regime, a dietary overhaul, and life coaching from a variety of experts.

One such expert, Dr O’Hooley treats Emma and mum, Audrey, at his Leeds-based The Dental Clinic.

Dr O’Hooley said that a great smile can give someone with their confidence back as it changes the way you perceive yourself, and the way that other people react to you.

He added that he believes Emma and Audrey were delighted with their oral re-vamp, and that he was pleased to give them something which could transform their lives.
