A Floridian dentist is having his art exhibited at a brand new exhibition.

Dr M Johnson Hagood, who practices in Vero Beach, was asked by one of his patients, who had been admiring the paintings that hang in his clinic, to take part on the Color-rich Impressions of Nature exhibition as a guest artist at the Artists Guild Gallery (AGG).

Using his cosmetic dentistry skills of dexterity and a keen aesthetic eye, the self-trained artist has now even begun to sell his work.

Dr Hagood said that after 10 years of dentistry he began to dabble in art and added that he now also does landscapes, still lifes and photography.

His mission is to highlight his passion for nature through art and now his oil paintings will be displayed alongside works of other professional artists from 4 – 30 December 2009.

One of 300 dentists credited internationally by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, 10 in Florida, Dr Hagood claimed that art was refreshing as it allowed him to use colours other than white.

He added that it was his dream to have a dental surgery which had an art gallery in it.

An opening party will be held for the exhibition. It is free to attend and begins at 7pm.

Visit the AGG at 1974 14th Avenue, Vero Beach. It is open from Monday to Friday from 10am to 5pm and on Saturdays from 11am to 4pm.
