Dentist suspends treatment as Road Rage hearing continues

Sample News Big

Shaun Edwards, a dentist from Sneyd Green, has decided he will not treat any more patients either privately or on the NHS until the future of his career is decided.

Mr. Edwards is being investigated by the General Dental Council after a road rage incident lead to him receiving a suspend jail sentence for an attack on a sixty-eight year old man. Edwards was ordered to complete over two hundred hours of unpaid work as part of his sentence, handed to him at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court in June and now also waiting on the matter to be considered by his professional peers. The GDC will decide upon a full disciplinary hearing next month and Mr. Edwards has decided not to treat anyone until then, although he is still free to practice.

The victim of the attack, Mr. Finney, received compensation for several injuries including loss of hearing and knocked out teeth and said that he didn’t want to see anyone ‘crucified,’ adding that he was happy for the GDC to decide his attacker’s fate.

The case is to be decided on the 21st of September.
