Dentist Earnings Figures Could be Distorted for 2006/2007

Sample News Big

The BDA says that the dentists’ income and costs published for 2006 and 2007 is not representative of what is really happening. Replying to a recent publication, the Chief Executive of the British Dental Association, Peter Ward, pointed out that the published income and costs for 2006 and 2007 do not consider the withholding of monies from the dentists who work for the NHS, when they are unsuccessful in meeting the faulty treatment goals that were set for them. Approximately fifty percent of the high street dentists throughout Wales and England could be involved in this year’s withholding of money. Many of these dentists are anxiously waiting to see if they are affected by this, and what their penalty will be. So, these 1st year figures could be distorted, depending on whether the dental work was performed and billed under the former method and/or payments under the new method.
