An Ohio dentist is sending medical supplies and equipment to Cuba.

Jim Walsh, president of Franklin-based Ross Institute of Medical and Dental Technology, agreed to donate the supplies after meeting with representatives of Caring Partners International (CPI) on Tuesday 17 November 2009.

CPI sends donated medical equipment to third word countries to help improve health care standards.

Mr Walsh said that in a world full of negativity he saw nothing but positives in CPI work.

Ross’s Cincinnati institute donated a complete dental office to CPI, which will be sent to Havana on Thursday 19 November 2009.

Roy Cline, CPI president, said that the equipment would be set up for permanent use for patients in the Cotorro area.

He added that this was the first time the CPI has received the donation of a full dental office.

The Cuban Ministry of Health will inspect the equipment when it arrives in Havana and it will be re-errected in January 2010 at the Baptist Retirement Home in Cotorro. 10,000 local residents will be able to take advantage of its services.

Mr Walsh said that it was a great honor to donate the equipment when he thought of how it would be received.
