A trio of dentists from Ripon are preparing for a charity mission to the Philippines this month.

Rachel Adams, Sabah Hussain and Alexandra Callaghan, from Beech House Dental Practice, are using their spare time to travel to the Philippines to give free dental care to some of the world’s poorest people. The project is being run by the Rise Above Foundation.

The charity has been working in Cebu City since the end of 2000 and it is making a real difference to local people. Rachel and Sabah have volunteered with the foundation twice before and say it has a massive impact on the lives of residents.

The dental projects run every January and July and the am is to provide free dental care for local people.

The dental trio will be helping out in mobile clinics, providing treatment to hundreds of people at no cost.

Rachel said that the project helps people to enjoy their lives and eradicates the chronic pain of toothache. Rates of decay have fallen considerably in the schools that have been involved in the projects.

Rachel, Sabah and Alexandra are raising money for the trip and have appealed for donations to help the people of South East Asia.
