Dental Team A Blooming Success in Sheffield

Sample News Big

A team of volunteers from the University of Sheffield’s Access to Dental Occupation- Practice and Tutoring Scheme has helped to bring Sheffield into bloom. The team of students swapped the classroom for the great outdoors and spent hours working to restore Lynwood Gardens, one of the city’s renowned beauty spots, back to glory.

The scheme, which operates from the University of Sheffield, is designed to improve access to dental courses and ensure that students from all backgrounds are able to apply for courses in Dentistry, Dental Hygiene and Dental Nursing. The scheme is targeted towards students from under-represented groups.

Year 13 students from schools across the city donned gardening gloves and Wellington boots to dig out weeds and plant seeds to bring the flower beds back to life; they also swept the steps and cleared the paths to make the gardens more accessible for visitors.
