A new dental surgery will open soon in a Sainsbury’s store in Sheffield.

A planning application submitted by The Dental Centre has been approved and work will now begin on the new surgery, which will open in the Sainsbury’s store off Archer Road in Millhouses. The surgery will be located on the ground level of the store and it will during store house, giving patients greater flexibility and the chance to combine doing their weekly shop and going to the dentist.

The Dental Centre has already opened surgeries in five stores across the UK and plans to open more in association with Sainsbury’s are in the pipeline. The practice will open between 8.30am and 8pm from Monday to Friday and 10am to 6 pm on Saturdays; the surgery will also be open on Sundays, from 11am until 3pm.

The company says that there is growing demand for flexible opening times and for accessible dentistry; many people struggle to get an appointment with an NHS dentist and The Dental Centre offers extended opening hours and conveniently located practices. The fees are pitched between NHS rates and private fees and the company believes that it offers an excellent range of services for dental patients.

The centre will employ around 10 members of staff, including two dentists and a dental hygienist; two consultant dermatologists will also be based at the practice.

The anticipated opening date for the Millhouses practice is October 1st.
