Dental Surgeries Back Berwick Parking Petition

Sample News Big

Dental surgeries in Berwick are supporting a petition to introduce fairer parking fees in the town centre. Residents and local businesses feel that parking charges are too high and the petition has already been signed by 1,400 people.

Parking in the town centre is too expensive according to local residents and businesses feel that the fees are driving customers away. They are campaigning for lower charges and believe this will bring more people into Berwick.

Residents are particularly aggrieved because parking is available free of charge in other local towns including Cramlington, Ashington and Blyth.

Despite the popularity of the petition the Chamber of Trade has encouraged more people to come forward and sign the petition before the deadline of the 26th February.

The petition is available to sign at a host of local businesses, including both of the town’s dental practices, Ladbrokes, Boots, Fairbairn the butchers, the Cannon Fish Restaurant and the Holiday Rock Shop.

John Haswell, Chairman of the Chamber of Trade, said the response has been positive but encouraged people who have not signed to support the cause in order to apply more pressure to Northumberland County Council.
