Dental students help in the Philippines

A group of students from Kentucky are travelling to Asia to improve the oral health of the local population.

Eighteen students and nine faculty members from the University of Louisville are visiting the Philippines from Thursday 10 to Sunday 20 December 2009 to host a free oral health clinic and teach in local schools.

Melvin Washington, dental student, said that he was expecting to do a lot of extractions because of the poor dental health standards among the local population of the Philippines.

Communications and Justice Administration undergraduates will be joining their dental colleagues to help out and will be blogging the whole experience.
