Dental student to compete in Miss Glamorous competition after being turned away from a pageant due to her size
A gutsy dental student from Tredegar is preparing to compete in Miss Glamorous UK after being turned away from a beauty pageant last year due to her size.
Vanessa Morgan, 25, was told she was unable to compete in a pageant last year because she was a size 14. At the time, she thought her dream of being a beauty queen would never come true, but then she found out about Miss Glamorous. This competition has no limitations on size or weight and Vanessa was delighted to win the Gwent heats. Later this year, she’ll compete against other regional winners in an attempt to become Miss Glamorous UK.
Vanessa was disappointed to hear that she would unable to apply for the competition last year because she wasn’t a size 10 or smaller. Since then, she’s enjoyed success in other competitions and she was determined to use her story to inspire other women. Last month, she hosted her own plus-size pageant in Merthyr Tydfil.
The determined student dental nurse believes that it’s important to try and encourage self-confidence in women and she is using her experiences to try and help others. When she was turned away for being a size 14, she was upset, but it has spurred her on to inspire others.
As well as competing in Miss Glamorous UK, Vanessa was also crowned Face of Cardiff and Miss Curve Cwmbran last year.
