Dental software to transform industry?

Sample News Big

New periodontal risk assessment software is being trailed at ten UK dental practices.

Trials of the PreViser software are expected to reveal what kind of impact it will have on periodontal health and whether the internet-based package will motivate patients.

The software works by assessing a patient’s gum health after a dental professional has input data. The computer then returns a bespoke report of an individual current and future periodontal health.

Liz Chapple, director of PreViser’s mother company Oral Health Innovations Ltd, said that the software encourages patients to take more control of their oral health and claimed that patient risk assessment is now an established healthcare process.

All the practices partaking in the trial are part of the Product Research and Evaluation Panel (PREP).

The panel, which was established by Prof Burke of the University of Birmingham (UoB), evaluate new dental materials through general primary care practices.

Prof Iain Chapple, a restorative dentistry consultant at UoB, said that one of PreVIser’s biggest benefits was that it was quick and personal to individuals.

He added that the trial would be a great opportunity to see how patients react to this new technology.

Some practices in the UK are already using PreViser software. If you would like to download a free 30-day trial visit www.previser.co.uk.
