Dental schools experience increase in patient numbers

Sample News Big

Several dental schools across America have reported a significant increase in the number of patients attending their clinics.

Many university dental schools offer reduced rate treatment, which can help to ease the financial burden of dental treatment for patients at the same time as providing students with practical experience. Most schools offer a system of supervised treatment by students, which costs considerably less than treatment by qualified dentists.

Figures from the New York University College of Dentistry show an increase of 10,000 visits last year; Dr Mark Wolff from the school, said that there had been a steady increase in the number of patients over the last few years, with a huge increase in the number of middle-class, working clients. The school’s clinic provides care at a reduced rate and all the students are supervised by qualified professionals to ensure there are no problems.

Columbia’s University of Dental Medicine has also seen a 10 percent increase in patient numbers over the course of the last year. The clinic offers general dental treatments, as well as popular treatments including tooth whitening.

Dental schools are becoming increasingly popular because more people are struggling to afford dental treatment and an increasing number of people do not have dental insurance. Many people simply cannot afford dental treatment costs, which can run into thousands of dollars.
