A man who died in a house fire was identified using dental records.
The house fire took place in Flintshire, Wales, on Monday 16 November 2009, and police officers said the body was so badly burnt that it would have been difficult to identify without dental records.
A passer-by called the emergency services to a terraced house in Brynford Street, Holywell, at around 4pm when smoke was seen coming out of the property.
The alarm was raised by a passer-by who noticed smoke coming from the house.
The blaze had reportedly taken hold by the time help had arrived.
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service Crew members had to use two hoses and four breathing sets to tackle the fire.
Detective Inspector Alun Oldfield said a joint investigation between police and fire officer was trying to discover the cause of the fire.
At the moment the man’s death is not believed to be suspicious. His identity will not be revealed until after post-mortem.
