Dental practices reminded of TV licensing rules

Sample News Big

TV Licensing has issued a reminder to dental practices across the country. The licensing body has urged all practices to ensure that they have the necessary license to air live television in patient waiting rooms.

Many dental clinics have TV sets in the waiting room, which are designed to entertain patients while they wait. In order to watch TV legally, practices must be in possession of a valid license; this also applies to clinics streaming services such as BBC iPlayer.

The penalty for failing to adhere to the regulations is a fine, which could be up to £1,000.

TV Licensing’s West Midlands’ spokesman, Mark Whitehouse, said that all businesses must comply with TV licensing agreements to avoid prosecution and subsequent fines. Any clinic or practice that offers customers and patients the option to watch live TV on the premises should be in possession of a valid license.
