Dental Practice Supports Charity work in Africa

A dental practice in Bath is joining forces with a charity to support project work in Africa.

Green Park Dental Practice has established a partnership with Bridge2Aid, a charity that provides training, education and dental supplies for people living in Tanzania. The practice will help to fund an emergency clinical dental officer, who will provide urgent treatment for hundreds of Tanzanian people.

Chris Rosser, a dentist at the practice, said that the practice had agreed to fund the dental training of a health worker because it was an excellent way of supporting a good cause and improving access to dental care for hundreds of people in Tanzania. He added that the team was looking forward to updates about the training process and hearing how the officer was getting on.

Tanzania has very poor standards of oral health and there is a severe lack of awareness of oral health and a shortage of trained dental professionals. Many people have to wait long periods and travel long distances to see a dentist and some people go for several years without getting the treatment they need.
