Dental practice out of pocket after lead theft

Sample News Big

The owners of a dental practice in Staffordshire have been left out of pocket after thieves stole lead from the canopy of the building.

Richard Howarth, from Smile Style on Lichfield Road, has been forced to pay out £1,000 to repair the damaged canopy, as his insurance company refused to cover the damage. Mr Howarth has already invested a huge amount of money in the surgery, after carrying out extensive renovation work prior to opening the surgery in November last year.

Mr Howarth was shocked and angry when he arrived at work two weeks ago to find that the porch had been badly damaged and lead had been stolen from the surgery; the practice is located on a busy junction and he said that he was very surprised that nobody had seen the thieves in action.

Lead theft is not covered by insurance companies and therefore Mr Howarth said that there was no option but to use different materials, as he simply cannot afford to keep replacing the lead.
