Dental practice forced to close due to rodent infestation

A dental surgery in Southsea has been forced to close after a large number of mice took residence in their building.

The practice in Victoria Road North was forced to cancel or rearrange more than one hundred appointments after mice were spotted in the building on Wednesday. Over the course of the last two days, the council’s pest control team have been working to remove the mice and sterilise the surgery, so that it can open to the public.

It is believed that the practice will open again sometime during the next week and a spokeswoman for NHS Portsmouth said that the property will be fully sterilised and cleaned before it opens its doors to patients. The Environmental Health Service from Portsmouth City Council are heavily involved in the situation and will check the surgery to make sure it is sterile and safe before patients are allowed in for treatment. The NHS spokeswoman said that she was keen to keep patients in the loop about the situation but did not want to raise their hopes prematurely.

Patients who have been affected by the closure will be invited to attend rescheduled appointments as early as possible.
