Dental Patients In Leicestershire To Benefit From Extra Funding

Sample News Big

Dental patients in North West Leicestershire are set to benefit from extra funding from the Department of Health.

Health ministers recently confirmed that an additional pot of £30 million would be available for trusts across the UK and health bosses in North West Leicestershire have announced that they have successfully secured £330,000.

Surveys in the past have suggested that patients in the area sometimes find it difficult to get an appointment with their dentist and the additional funding will be used to make more appointments available for local residents at a number of different practices.

Helen Stubbs, senior dental contracts manager for the local NHS trust, said that the cash boost was great news for local people and would enable more patients to see a dentist. She encouraged people to make the most of the additional opportunities available to them.

Funding is available until the 31st March and it is designed to target patients who are not currently registered with an NHS dentist; new patients are encouraged to contact practices direct or call the helpline on 0116 925 7270 from 9am until 5pm Monday to Friday for an appointment.

The trust has also announced additional funding worth £240,000 for schemes to improve dental health and oral health education projects in the local area; oral hygiene packs will also be made available at Sure Start children’s centres and advice will be available for parents.
