Dental nurses protest against fee increase

Sample News Big

Dental nurses in Bradford are protesting against an increase in the annual retention fee, which they must pay in order to work.

Nurses at the Thornton Dental Care Centre in Market Street have written to fellow nurses in the area urging them to join the campaign and sign the petition against the fee increase; the petition will then be sent to the General Dental Council. Nurses are hoping that the GDC will reconsider the annual retention fee increase.

The group of nurses have also contacted local councillors and Members of Parliament in the hope that their support will encourage the GDC to scrap the increase.

The annual retention fee was £96 per year, but this fee will increase to £120 in July; the nurses say that there is no reason to justify the increase and believe that it unfair to charge so much to professionals on a low salary. Part-time dental nurse, Frances Soames, said the fee was too high, especially for part-time nurses; she claims that there has been a positive response to the petition so far and is hoping that the GDC will reconsider the fee.

A spokesperson from the GDC said that the decision had not been taken lightly and officials were aware of the impact that an increase would have on dental professionals; however, the cost of regulation has increased and they have no option but to increase the annual retention fee.

Gilda Says :

I asked the gDC to remove my name from their register, enough.

Dental Nurses have to fight this Registration which is against Human Rights by themselves, no Mp no regulators will help us.

Silly that on the GDC website there is nothing hoiw can cancel our Name from the Register, incredible.
In Europe, Dental Nurses do not pay for any registration at all and their salaries is much much more then in the UK.

If all Dental Nurses will not pay the Annual fee, the GDC can’t do NOTHING, but………..One day Dental Nurses will wake up.

In the mean time I go out
