A dental hygienist is celebrating after winning first prize in the St Francis Hospice lottery.

Nora Simmonds, a dental hygienist who works in Harley Street, had only been playing the hospice lottery for a couple of months when her numbers came up; she won £1000 and plans to spend some of the money on producing a video of her son’s jazz and swing band, The Squintet.

Nora, who lives in Barkingside, said that she is unable to devote a lot of time to the hospice due to work commitments but she wanted to help out and started playing the lottery to support the cause; she never expected to win and was delighted to hear the news.

Nora and her family regularly donate to the hospice shop on Barkingside High Street.

Anyone who wishes to support the hospice or start playing the lottery is encouraged to call 01708 771443 or visit www.sfh.org.uk or any St Francis Hospice shop. Proceeds from the lottery go to helping patients with long-term illnesses at the hospice.
