Dental Council of India could be dissolved

Sample News Big

The Dental Council of India (DCI) is, along with the Nursing Council of India (INC), set to be dissolved by the Union health Ministry. This would follow the Ministry’s recent dissolving of the Medical Council of India.

The decision has come after growing complaints of “malpractices in the regulatory bodies” of both councils were reported to Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad via the Minister of State, Dinesh Trivedi. The extent of the issues were reported in a letter written by Trivedi which stated; ‘..there are cases where it is alleged that undeserving institutions without proper infrastructure and faculty have been granted recognition. This needs to be checked and we need to initiate some reforms without further delay.’

Health Ministry Officials have stated that it is necessary to dissolve the councils due to the proposed umbrella body, the National Council for Human Resource in Health.
