Dental clinic calls for more NHS patients

A Kettering dental surgery is calling out to NHS patients who don’t have a dentist because they have loads of vacancies.

Northfield Dental only opened a month ago as part of £25million scheme to improve dental care in the area.

This investment saw two new ‘long-hours’ practices open in Kettering and Wellington and extended the operating hours of surgeries in Corby and Mawsley.

The Northamptonshire Evening Telegraph reports that Verity Hills, regional manager for Rodericks, the company responsible for running NHS dentistry in the region, said the area had excellent facilities but only 600 patients on their books.

She added that when the company had worked on similar projects more than 1,000 people had tried to register in advance. Verity said that it isn’t difficult to find dental care in the area and with the longer opening hours it’s even easier.

Jane Bailey, Northamptonshire NHS’s programme leader on primary care, claimed that there was a misconception that NHS dental care in the area was lacking and said NHS Northamptonshire wants to let the public know about the investment in the area.
