Dental button: Patients in charge of drill
An Iowa dentist is trying to help nervous patients by giving them power over the drill.
Dr Scott Yegge, who practices at Advanced Family Dentistry, Ankeny, gives patients a special button which cuts the power from his drill if they become really scared.
He said that giving patients more control often makes them less anxious and claimed that he always wants his patients to be as comfortable as possible.
The dentist said that while he had given The Dental Button to several patients that no one had pressed it yet.
Dr Yegge claimed that the button also made him feel more relaxed as he knows that his patients are feeling comfortable and safe.
Dental Buttons cost around $1,400 but there are no extra charges for patients.
