Dental braces latest adult trend

A survey has revealed that more and more British adults are happy to wear dental braces to achieve the perfect smile.

Generally associated with younger teenagers, braces are reportedly seeing a resurgence among adults who want straight, white, Hollywood-style teeth.

Research from the British Lingual Orthodontic Society revealed that one-in-five UK adults would now opt for wearing braces to achieve a winning grin.

The up-turn in braces comes as technology has evolved and they are now far more comfortable and discrete.

Brands like Invisalign, who specialise in invisible braces, now also have competitors in the market, which is driving down the cost of treatment.

More and more celebrities are openly admitting wearing braces which has also contributed to the take off of the trend.

In 2009 it was revealed that Cheryl Cole had received around £10,000’s-worth of cosmetic dental treatment, including orthodontic procedures, and the likes of Tom Cruise and Kelly Brook have also had a well documented adult brace-phases.

Stuart Geddes, British Dental Association Wales’s director, reportedly said that this new trend was a result of braces becoming increasingly less invasive and more aesthetically pleasing.
